I got a gmail account as I remembered it was much easier to do links of music videos etc via gmail. And it was. Until sufficent time had passed and I hadn't done one for aaages and so have forgotten how. Googling didn't help.

can anyone tell me what the process is around cut n pasting the address of the video?

What are you trying to do?

You have seen a video on youtube and...?

tribpot · 19/02/2012 20:42

So you click on 'Compose' and then you're in the screen to write a new email.

The button that looks like a chain, next to the smiley face and before the button with '1, 2, 3' on it opens a box to allow you to type in a link and then the words you want to appear in the email for that link.

Panfriedstardust · 19/02/2012 20:49

yes, Trills, that's it.

tribpot - thanks very much. Different to how I recall but it works and that's the main thing.

thanks

You can also type the words you want for the link, highlight them and then click the chain button, if that makes more sense. Was it something specifically about YouTube that you remember doing in another way?

Panfriedstardust · 19/02/2012 20:55

no, it wasn't specifically from youtube - I saw a friend today who was really really down and I wanted to send her a funny vid to assist in the recovery.

I recall ( about a year ago) that the method ended with a screen shot of the video further down the message as one sent it, and the recipient clicked on the screen shot. But if it works, it works. thank you again.

It should look like that once you've sent it - i.e. the message your friend sees will have the vid clip in the message further down. If you send a photo or YouTube link to yourself, you should see what I mean.
