  1. I stupidly typed my password into the user name box of my hotmail log in page. Now if you click into the box it displays the password as one of the options in a drop-down box. I've changed the password but it's one I've used for other things and i would like it not to come up like this. Is there a way I can get the computer to forget this without turning off auto-complete or wiping every other autocomplete for password etc that I have? ie I just want hotmail to stop doing this!
  1. Every time I try to open something from a webpage that could be viewed as a document or jpg, my computer wants to save it. It doesn't give me an option, just opens up the download or a document folder for me to save it into. I just want to look at the swimming table online, I don't want a copy on my laptop! Is there a setting I can change to sort this out please?

Thanks! Oh, I use Windows Vista (grr) on a Sony Vaio and run Mozilla Firefox browser.

  1. It's not Hotmail, it's your browser's autocomplete. This works in recent versions of IE and FF: double-click in the (empty) username box. Scroll down the list until the offending item is highlighted and hit delete.
  1. This could be the fault of the web sites you are visiting: what happens when you go here for instance? If it still asks, go to Tools -> Options -> Applications and change 'always ask' to a relevant viewer for each file type. This can happen because you installed some dodgy image viewer, said 'yes' to 'use CrapView(TM) to view all image files' and then uninstalled it.

Thank you so much - both problems solved. I had no idea you could delete like that from a drop down menu. I can tidy up lots of annoying autocompletes now.
