iPod battery life

Bought one of these at xmas and initially it seemed OK, but now I'm lucky of the battery lasts a couple of hours. I don't know if that's normal i.e. playing games for an hour or 2 and the battery is flat. I've got a 8/9 hr flight to the US in May and was hoping this would help alleviate the boredom of my 7 yr old, but if it packs in after an hour or 2, it's hardly seems worth taking. Are there charging docks on flights you can use? I was under the impression you got about 10 hours battery life after charging so this does seem a bit short.

Any thoughts? Have I got myself a dud iPod?

1-2 hours does seem very short. Book an appt with your nearest Apple store and they can plug it into a machine which will test the battery. If it's knackered, they can replace it there & then. My son's had similar issues. One minute it was 100%, the next it was 60%.

For long flights, I've got a portable battery pack which I use. Mine charges an ipad too so it's more expensive but if you go to ebay and type "Iphone battery extender", there are plenty to choose from.
