Updated iPod Touch on Sunday - wish I hadn't bothered - lots of problems - PLEASE HELP

As I said, I updated my iPod Touch on Sunday to IOS5 (I think) with iCloud, etc.

It wiped all my photos and installed photos from an old backup. Not that big of a deal, they weren't irreplacable.

All my notes were wiped. I've had to reorganise all my apps twice and to be honest I'm sick of seeing little wobbly apps in front of my eyes.

Biggest problem though is my music. I cannot get my iPod Touch to sync from the pc and get my music back on to my iPod. I've done two restores tonight but after each one, although it seems to have worked, it says it was interrupted and didn't complete. I'm seriously narked off.

I've googled and have seen suggestions to reinstall iTunes. If I do this, are all my apps and music going to disappear?

If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

(Sorry for waffly post - it's late on Friday and I may have had a drink)

Hi, My DH works in the field.

Reinstalling iTunes will not affect any of the Apps etc as they are in the iTunes Folder in "my music" or "music" folder (PC or Mac).

Check www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/syncing/ but most likely Antivirus or Firewall software getting in the way.

With iOS 5 you can set it to sync over WiFi, so if you select that option it will send the music / books / films etc over the network when your iPod Touch is plugged into the mains. This can be helpful if USB is playing up! Select as an option in from the "Summary" tab in the device.

Hope this helps.

lemonsherbet I'll try that in the morning.

Thank you so much.

I've tried syncing over WiFi - didn't work.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes - didn't work.

It starts a sync in 6 or 7 stages, gets to the last one, "waiting for changes to be applied", it changes to "syncing data to iPod, safari safe browsing data", and then it cancels the sync.

I've restored from backup so many times, it takes about 45 mins to an hour, seems to have worked, starts the iPod up again but then brings up the message "iTunes was interrupted whilst restoring the contents of the iPod. Would you like to restore this iPod again now?" with the options Cancel, Continue Restore or Delete Backup.

I've cancelled or continued restore, but it still won't sync! Aarrrghhhhh!

Any other suggestions please?

I had this with my iPad after than ios5 upgrade. Some tecchy friends of mine managed to recover some, but not everything, that was on there. I think that the anti virus software was one of the issues. Can you put it on a lower security setting while you synch?

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2012 17:19

Thanks hermione I turned firewall off on my pc and tried a sync. Nope. Turned firewall back on. Don't know if firewall is the right thing.

Or is it something I need to do on my iPod? Anyway, think I'll give it a rest for tonight because my head is starting to hurt from banging it on the pc desk.

Thanks.
