Getting rid of Sky, another query

Currently have Sky HD with sport, broadband/phone, everything except movies.
It is costly a bloody fortune and we want to dump Sky for Murdoch related reasons anyway.

I was looking at buying this plus getting a phone/broadband package. Will that roughly replace it? I know we lose the sport (boohoo Grin )But I will gain Iplayer through the TV and much reduced monthly cost.

What do you think?

Do not go with BT for broadband!!! I've not heard anyone say a good thing about them.

Otherwise, given you've already got the satellite dish then perhaps a Freesat box is a better bet than a Freeview box. My experience with Freeview signal's been terrible, never mind Freeview HD!

I will be heartbroken to miss the rest of the ER repeats but the rest I am not arsed about, mostly watch non-sky stuff anyway. Freeview is fine here, I am in the Granada TV region though.

Back for a mooch of the freesat boxes then Smile

Blimey! Our bill is about £60 max a month, we have broadband, phone and Tv. We pay the £5 for cheaper calls which made a big difference. Our Tv is basic with a few of the £1 packs. We looked to switch but it would have cost a similar amount and I wouldn't have had all the channels so wasn't worth it.

We gave up Sky (couldn't get reception when leaves were on the trees..) and use one of those boxes. It's fine. We never miss Sky. But you could save a few quid by just buying the box (280 from J Lewis) . We had a LoveFilm subscription to make up for the movies and for Sky only series boxsets but we gave up on it after a while.

I switched to BT broadband last Aug and have been very happy with the service Niceguy, not to say I would recommend but I certainly wouldn't slate.

On a side note... can I raise YouView. Ok I know it's not available yet but it will with luck come out sometime this year. I don't know a lot about it but it seems to be like BT Vision. I think YouView is IPTV with Interactivity. Needs Freeview Aerial plus Broadband, though I'm not clear as to what speed of connection is required.
It has been delayed and delayed... so if it will become reality this year is uncertain, though in this video (around 2:39) the CEO of BT talks about it possibly being Mid 2012.
