Can anyone please help me with transferring info from old iphone to new?

I have an old iphone 3 that I have today upgrade to a new 4s - that was the easy part. I am now stuck. I hadn't bothered to update my old iphone software for about a year as my itunes was on an old laptop that is not used any more. So I have now managed to download itunes onto my newer netbook successfully and I have synched my old iphone on to itunes ... or so I believe. I have also plugged the new iphone in to itunes and have somehow got my email up and running on the new machine but there is no sign of my music or anything else. I am probably being ignorant here (more than likely) but I can't see how to transfer from one to the other. Can anyone help me urgently please ... they only give you 24 hours to sort it before they cut off the old sim and i dont want to lose all my contacts etc.

When you back up your old phone you need to look at the tabs across the top of iTunes, music, apps etc and check that they are set to sync with your iTunes/phone. Am on phone so can't look at iTunes to tell you exactly, but you should be able to see instructions when you click on each tab.

I have had a look but am obviously being hopeless as I can't see. I have managed to transfer across my apps but no contacts, photos, music etc ... heeelp!!!

Going to start at the beginning as I'm not terribly good at itunes so have plugged my iphone in to see. Did you click on your iphone on left side bar?

Then you should see small tabs along the top, summary, info, apps, music, films etc

Can you see these?

Hi, the photos won't transfer over though will they? As soon as I connected the 4s to itunes all music and emails contacts downloaded. Don't panic too much though as my old iphone 3 still switches on and I can access all phone contacts/photos, etc., just that it can't be used as a phone.

Sorry meant to say that I had my 4s last November and my old 3 still works for access purposes.

The photos should transfer, I'm fairly certain mine did at Christmas when I transferred from 3gs to 4, but since I dropped my new phone off a table onto hard floor within 5 days of getting it and broke it I can't check for you now as I had to send it away :(
Its a matter of looking at all the settings in the tabs on itunes and figuring them out

thank you .... I have now managed to get the apps, contacts and photos to transfer which is a huge relief .. am now just trying to work out the music!
