How do I start a new thread using the iPhone app?

I've looked and looked, and must be missing something, but I just can't see how to do it! Can someone take me through it? Slowly?!

Choose your topic
Choose your sub topic
Click the cross on top right corner
Start a discussion should pop up from the bottom.
