help me decide - tablet or netbook

I dont really understand GB etc - I need to know what would suit better and any recommendations.

I will be using it to do a small amount of typing etc, will want to be able to use internet etc

Have you actually tried to type on a newbook? I find it really difficult and instead went for a small laptop instead.. this one

Netbook is the way to go for the technically deficient or casual user.

Tablets are great if you are used to using android phones I personally can't stand them.

And you can use either at home connecting to your home wifi network or indeed a hotspot whilst you are on the move.

Lot more power in a netbook. Tablet's are a fun addition if you already have a computer, but they're quite limited.

Tablets are great for reading media but poor for typing.

The Transformer prime has been designed to be both. I'm tempted but I've not had the best of experiences with Android tablets but this one is seriously tempting.

The only issue is that for the price, you can get a full laptop or a netbook with change left over.

Dharma, a netbook is essentially a small compact cutdown laptop designed for where you need limited power such as surfing the web.

I agree with the poster above. Get a laptop, netbooks are very slow compared to laptops.

netbook, tablets are so sensitive and frustrating, they are really just good for using the internet definately not if you need to be typing

Will this be your only computer? If that's the case I agree you might be better off with a small laptop. If you do already have a full size desktop pc or another full size laptop, a netbook might be good - they are small and light and great for traveling, and although they are less powerful than a full size laptop or desktop pc, they are fine for word processing, surfing the net, emails, etc. Do not get a tablet if you need to type things - they are great for reading/watching video etc but not so good for doing your own work on.

I personally have a desktop (high powered gaming/work machine, big screen for viewing comfort etc) and a netbook (for uni work, taking to the library, traveling etc). If I got a tablet it'd be as a toy only (which is why I haven't been able to justify the purchase yet :o )

If you do go for a netbook, go to a bricks and mortar shop and actually put your hands on the keyboard to check for typing comfort. I find mine very comfortable, but my DP has one too (different brand, slightly smaller) and I hate it. It's very personal, DP can't stand mine, so you really do have to go try it.

i love my netbook and would recommend. surprisingly lots of companies have announced recently they are pulling theier netbook products (inc dell i think) as lots of companies are focusing on tablets.

i like having a keyboard and being able to run proper applications like excel and word.

Size. OH used to have an Asus netbook, but the screen size was just too small to be of much use. He used it mostly for when he was away on business because it was light and he could use Skype on it.

I type a lot and much prefer a standard keyboard to a touch screen. I agree with Noako about trying one out before you buy.

tbh there is very much between netbook specs. you HAVE to try them. i bought the one that had the nicest keyboard (hp mini). john lewis has a good range to try.

though mine is in getting the spacebar fixed under jl warranty as it isnt v responsive!!

I have a computer at home but its on its way out so will probably use a laptop as the main home computer (we have spare one that is never used)
but i want to have something that I can carry around easily - laptop is just bit too big.

I think I will head into a couple of shops and have a play.

anyone got the asus tf101 - this seems quite good but bit cheaper

should have said not much difference in specs. for me it came down to deel, keyboard and how well made it felt. wiuld recommend john lewis. my netbook xame wirh 1 yr guarentee and then an additional year free from jl.

One thing to remember about netbooks is that they frequently don't have an optical(DVD/CD) drive, if you want to use discs you will need to buy an external drive to play them. You can get them fairly cheaply though.

Get a laptop. All netbooks are seriously underpowered. 32GB of storage would be sufficient. If your really set on a tabet get a twoin one convertible
