DH maintains that if you move the box, especially when there is a disc in it, IT WILL BREAK.

Someone just bumped into it (gently) and it made a sound like a music box (plinky plonk). Is it dead?

Well does it work? Noone can tell you if its dead since we cannot see the unit.

The disc does spin incredibly fast, ditto with the hard disk so bumping into it whilst it's powered on is never a good idea.

That said, they aren't exactly made of tissue paper. They should be able to survive someone picking it up and moving it. But not say.. a fall off the table whilst it's turned on.

Xboxes have been shot before and survived, unless you mean a Xbox 360, they can not survive a bullet but what will happen with anything you bash into if it has a CD/DVD/BR in it at the time, said disc may get scratched.

It's not good for it, because (assuming it's a 360) they're very fussy on stability/surface/the stars being aligned right. Poor build quality really. But I've bumped into ours loads of times and it's not dead.....Turn it on and see if it does anything?

I have no idea how to turn the thing on. I have become my mother in the past few years and have no interest in technology. I leave such things to our seven year old!
