I want to create a website (inexpensively) so where do I start please?

I'd like to do it myself if possible but not sure where to start. Am reasonably computer-literate but not for anything like this!

The website will be to advertise our beach chalet so I don't need anything complicated. I will want it to have some copy with photo's and then a chart sort of thing showing dates, prices and availability and then a contact button or form. What's the best way to approach this please?

Also, in order for it to be found when people are googling accommodation in the area do I need to have key words in the website address and copy, or how do I make sure it's accessible to people searching please?

TIA.

Try www.gbbo.co.uk it's run by google and the government and gives you the design tools to design a website and also free hosting for a year.
It also has tools built in to help you optimise your website for search engines.
And the best bit (other than being free)? It's really easy to use.

Sorry posted too soon...
To be found by the search engines you need your carefully chosen keywords and phrases in page names, titles and descriptions. You also need lots of words in your website, eg articles about beaches, chalets, the area your in and these should contain about 29% of keywords.

Brilliant, thank you. That's just what I needed, and needed to know. Thanks again.

Re a website name, will it sort that for me too?

You can go to weebly.com and it's very easy, free and will give you a weebly.chalet.com domain for example. However if you want your own web URL like chalet.com you'll have to buy that from a domain portal like 123-reg.com or godaddy.com
