Camera broken, take to Jessops or fuji directly, or write it off?

I've got a fujifilm superzoom camera that I bought 3 years ago tomorrow. For the past few weeks it seems to be eating batteries while it's turned off, so whenever I go to use it, the batteries die. If I take the batteries out when I'm not using it, it's fine. Should I take it back to Jessops for repair, return it to Fujifilm directly, or give it up as dead and save up for another? I don't really want to fork out a fortune for repairs, but it would be a shame to get rid of it as it's a pretty decent camera. WWYD?

Well it's well outside warranty so Jessops won't be interested. Any repair would probably cost more than the camera's worth so I'd say forget it.

However, what you could do is just get a couple of sets of rechargable batteries and remember to take at least one battery out whenever you are not using it. Just to tide you over until you've enough money for a decent new one.

Hi, I have a Fujifilm camera. I went online and dealt with Fuji repairs direct.
The site was easy to use and very thorough. It doesnt have to be in warrenty. They will ask what is wrong with it and will get back to you with a quote to repair. If you accept the quote you are given a repair number. They will send you their own packaging for you to send your camera to them. Mine had the shutter cover that would not close when switched off. It came back within the week, looked like new and had a years warranty with it.

I am very impressed with their whole performance - especially using their site. I used them again for my ds fuji camera (ds had no idea why it wasnt working (apparently)) and again, the whole process was hassle free.

Unlike the Tom Tom site which has honestly left me with post traumatic stress and bald patches from months of trying to get round their site to get a repair on my gps. Love their product but site is shite! Sorry, rant over.
