iPad messages to iPhone

DH got me an iPad for Xmas and just trying to figure it out. I have managed to send a few messages to friends with iPhones, but can't seem to send to dhs iPhone. Also can't get face talk to connect to iPhones, does anyone have any tips? Thanks

FaceTime will only work with people who have iPhone 4 or 4S. Not sure about why you can't message your DH.

Does your DH have the latest operating system?
We had murder yesterday trying to set up my best friend's iPad to FaceTime our phones. If you go into your wifi settings then change the DNS to 8.8.8.8 it should sort it.

Have you switched on the iMessage function on DH's phone? And activated Facetime?

I have had problems with this too, tbh but thought it was just his phone. It needs updating.

Your DH will need IOS 5. You can check on his phone by going to Settings -> General -> About

Thanks for the replies. DH has iPhone 4, will have a look at the settings. It could also need updating, will have a look when he gets back. Thanks
