I suspect this may have been asked before - apologies if so and I'm the only person not to know about this but.....my iPhone 4 (which is a year or so old) has started dropping the signal and then refusing to reconnect until I turn it right off and then on again. Switching to Airplane mode doesn't jog it back into life; it has to be a hard re-set.

I haven't dropped or knocked it, and it's in a case that's supposed to get round the infamous 'holding it wrong' problem.

I'm on Vodafone PAYG and I don't know whether it's likely to be a Vodafone issue or a phone one. Thing is, I'm desperate to import my previous number from another network but I don't want to do that until I've narrowed down the problem. If it's a Vodafone thing then I might have to change networks. If it's the phone, I guess I'll have to take it into an Apple shop to get it looked at Xmas Sad

Thanks in advance for any help....

Apple shop is your answer. It's a common problem with some iPhone 4's. Very annoying though!

Bah humbug! But thanks for the quick answer. Is it fixable, though?

I'm on Vodaphone and I lose my Wifi/3g signal when I enter my workplace. The phone service is fine, but the internet doesn't kick back in until I turn it off and back on again. This is a 4S and it doesn't happen anywhere else.

Hmm, you see I lose all signal, at unpredictable moments. Sometimes it seems to improve and then at others (like today) it just keeps returning to 'No service'. I've already re-set the damn thing about 4 times today. I feel more inclined to think it's a faulty phone, or rather a fault that's developed. Never had a single problem with it until a couple of months ago.

Grr.

Xmas Grin I'm sure the Apple store will be able to fix it, there might even be a software download that will do it....have you upgraded your software to the latest version via iTunes?
They're so helpful in the store. Good luck! Xmas Grin

Get a back up and while you're there Apple will tell you if there is more up to date software available to download. Do that and see if it helps - if not yes, Genius bar at the nearest Apple Store (you can book an appointment online)

Thanks all, I'm up to date with software versions but I'll make sure - then looks like it'll be Regent Street for me on Monday Xmas Shock
