Iphone says 'No Service'....any advice?

I suspect this may have been asked before - apologies if so and I'm the only person not to know about this but.....my iPhone 4 (which is a year or so old) has started dropping the signal and then refusing to reconnect until I turn it right off and then on again. Switching to Airplane mode doesn't jog it back into life; it has to be a hard re-set.

I haven't dropped or knocked it, and it's in a case that's supposed to get round the infamous 'holding it wrong' problem.

I'm on Vodafone PAYG and I don't know whether it's likely to be a Vodafone issue or a phone one. Thing is, I'm desperate to import my previous number from another network but I don't want to do that until I've narrowed down the problem. If it's a Vodafone thing then I might have to change networks. If it's the phone, I guess I'll have to take it into an Apple shop to get it looked at Xmas Sad

Apple shop is your answer. It's a common problem with some iPhone 4's. Very annoying though!

I'm on Vodaphone and I lose my Wifi/3g signal when I enter my workplace. The phone service is fine, but the internet doesn't kick back in until I turn it off and back on again. This is a 4S and it doesn't happen anywhere else.

Hmm, you see I lose all signal, at unpredictable moments. Sometimes it seems to improve and then at others (like today) it just keeps returning to 'No service'. I've already re-set the damn thing about 4 times today. I feel more inclined to think it's a faulty phone, or rather a fault that's developed. Never had a single problem with it until a couple of months ago.

Grr.

Xmas Grin I'm sure the Apple store will be able to fix it, there might even be a software download that will do it....have you upgraded your software to the latest version via iTunes?

Get a back up and while you're there Apple will tell you if there is more up to date software available to download. Do that and see if it helps - if not yes, Genius bar at the nearest Apple Store (you can book an appointment online)

Thanks all, I'm up to date with software versions but I'll make sure - then looks like it'll be Regent Street for me on Monday Xmas Shock

it happened to me and apple said it was dust on my sim card, seriously, the guy in the shop blew into the litle hole at the top and voila!
