Trying to burn camcorder clips from PC on to dvd and getting error messages...

Anyone? This happened before about 18 months ago and I 'cured' it by randomly deleting and reinstalling a few programs. I also can't download photos from my mobile phone to my PC. (I wondered at the time whether Nokia phone photo whatsit may interfere with something... Possibly unlikely but I can't remember what I did). Does anyone know what programme/setting might block this? Many thanks in advance to anyone who has an idea - I am trying to burn a dvd of dd in her nativity play for the GPs to watch at Christmas

What are the error messages? What exactly do they say.

What operating system do you use (windows vista? Mac?)?

badgerspaws will try and burn a dvd so I know exactly what it says (will just eat dinner first and come back). Will also check system [embarrassingly computer illiterate emoticon...]

Hi I'm back. I have Windows vista on my PC, the camcorder is over 4 years old and Sony, the programme I use to burn the dvds is Picture Motion Browser (think it came with the camcorder?), and the error message literally just says there's been an error and it can't complete the dvd .

Anyone?

Can you burn things other than video to the DVD? Trying to work out if this is related to your video software or something deeper within Windows...

Hi, yes I can burn photos on to CDs without problem.

The actual error box says at the top 'Authoring tool for DVD' and the message reads 'Cannot write to this disc because an error occured'
It's driving me totally mad
