Why won't my netbook thingy connect to my router? It just says connection pending all the time.

The password is right. What do I do?

You could try rebooting it.

DooinMeCleanin · 07/12/2011 12:30

I've done that twice with the router and once with the netbook. That is the extent of my expertise I am afraid Grin

Okay so it has something to do with my password. Now I have unlocked my router it works. My router is WPA-PSK encrypet (if you know what this means you know more than me)

I need to change it to WEP but it won't let me. It keeps saying 'password is ASCII please only use ASCII characters. 0 is illegal' what are ASCII keys? What is it tlkaing about?

When the security is turned off it works but when it's WPA-PSK it doesn't.

Are you using 0(zero) instead of o ,or vice versa.

DooinMeCleanin · 07/12/2011 14:29

I had o and 0 in my password.

I've translated it now. In english it reads "Your netbook was built in the 1800s and is a pile of shite. Please return it and exchange it for one that is treble the price because it runs microsoft. Thank you. Bill Gates - ruler of the world."

Why do you need to use wep and not wpa? Wpa is better...

If you must use wep then, if I recall correctly it must be hexadecimal. Which means the letters A through to F and the numbers 0 to 9. So the letter O is out... The length varies according to the flavour of wep But will be at least ten characters.

The error you're getting is a bit poo. Both the letter O and the number 0 are both ASCII characters.

I returned it and swapped it for one which knew what WPA was Badgers at the cost of an extra £100 (ouch).

But it works.

If you have another computer go onto the manufacturers website and go to the trouble shooting tool and it will tell you what to do. x
