Does anyone know why my dvd will only work in blcak and white?

Ok so it's quite novel for the kids worked perfectly last week we usually can't find the remotes so unlikely someone pressed a button without realising though someone could have sat on them!!
we have separate tv and dvd player, tv in colour now dvd is black and white only, we've tried pushing buttons on remotes now but no improvement any other idea how we can fix it?
dh says it's broken but I think he just wants to spend cash we don't have........

Have you checked the cables?

yup we plug it in and out regularly for various reasons but no change, it's as if we've accidentally flicked a switch but I can't find one.......

Our TV went green for a while, and then we got a new scart (skart?) lead to go between the set top box thing and the TV, and it worked again, so maybe you've got a crappy lead?

Lots of suggestions here - you might find something that works!

That normally means the scart connection is loose either at the DVD or TV end or that you are on AVS not AV channel.

Have you tried different DVDs? We used to have one that wasn't multi-region and it would play my videos from the US (so they were NTSC rather than PAL) but they would be in B&W
