Computer slow please tell me what programs I can safely delete

I appear to have lots of programs but I am scared to delete them in case they are vital!

Example
Java update 29
Java update 6
Java update 3
surely I dont need all these

I also have Microsoft NET Framework repeated quite a few times

Anyone with any knowledge

Those things are all things that other programs will depend on rather than being actual programs in their own right. So removing them is a bit uncertain because later you might try and run something that needs them and that other thing will then crash.

You shouldn't need multiple versions of Java 6. Deleting the older updates (3 and 6) shouldn't break anything.

.NET framework is something I've managed happily without for years, but whether it's safe for you to remove it depends on the programs you use. I imagine a lot of Microsoft stuff relies on it, but Open Source software like Firefox is unlikely to need it.

If you are feeling brave, you could try removing it and see if anything breaks. It should be easy enough to reinstall, however there is an element of risk.
