Hi, I am new to the wonderful world of apps and loving my new iphone.
I am looking for an app that will help organise me and remind me of things, but that I can also have the hubby look at, from his work's PC, so we can liaise with appointments. Is there anything like this out there?

Also is there any good apps you can recommend?

Sync your calendars? Not an app as such, is built into the phone. What phone has he got?

alfiemama · 25/11/2011 09:47

Thanks Grumpla.
He has only got a crappybasic one Grin, I'm trying to persuade him to get one, by showing him sky sports and boys stuff.

If you want to share a calender then you could set up a Google Account and use a Google Calender. You then subscribe to that account from various places, so you'd have it synced on your phone and he could view it through a Google web page at work.

Now thats an idea, thanks Badgerpaws. I was looking at the Intuition app which is good but won't do I what I want it to do. Just with 3 kiddies need to be organised.

You can use google to sync in with both iCal and outlook too, so he could set it up on his PC at work if his phone is a bit crap!

Bear in mind that if you have a mac it's not currently possible to sync iCloud calendars with normal iCal ones (very annoying Angry)

"Bear in mind that if you have a mac it's not currently possible to sync iCloud calendars with normal iCal ones"

It's for that reason that I've not bothered with my iCloud calendar. It syncs very nicely with my Mac and my iOS gadgets but other devices can't easily link into it.

Plus it's tricky (I think) to share, anyone can access my iCloud calendar using a web page but they'd need to know my Apple ID, and they could do all other sorts of things with that.

Where as it's a doddle to set up a new Google ID (e.g. BadgersSharedDiary) with a new calendar and give that out to anyone that I want to have full control over it and being as how that ID is used for nothing else I don't mind sharing it with family members. All sorts of devices can sync very easily with Google calendars so it's a very portable way of doing things.

So the Google calendar becomes the "master" and my computers, phones and other gadgets all sync with it.

Thanks Badger and Grumpla, I am off to have a look.
Any good shopping lists and birthday apps, that you know?

I use EverNote for shopping lists, it's not a shopping list app as such but a way of sharing and syncing documents from all sorts of devices. So I've got the app on my home computers, my work machines, my phone and my iOS devices. If I think of something that I need I enter into one of them and the rest all get the updated list. I can be a bit scatty, so I find this a great help :)

I put birthdays into my calendar.

Sorry can I ask another app question?

I'm now realising that there is either an app for everything, or a way of doing what you want via the phone.
So here my next app request wantneed, is there an app where its like a virtual pinboard, I suppose connected to you calender. I am fed up of paper work everywhere, so would like to be able to take a picture of say a party invite and then bin it Grin?

if its a 4s, I jsut ask siri to remind me and a little memo gets created, and it reminds me nearer the time. it syncs with my other apple devices too, but I'm not sure how, possibly carried by magical ifairies..

alfiemama · 25/11/2011 12:59

Thanks Hops, I wish it was a 4, but still love my 3gs anything else would sound ungrateful to hubby.
I think actually evernote, may do what I am looking for. Perhaps Badger could confirm?

Mmmm. I don't think that there's a way of attaching photos to a Google Calender event via the phone and having it appear everywhere.

However EverNote does work with images. So you'd take a photo on your phone, make a new EverNote note and attach the photo to it and then it would be spread to all of your other devices.

However that won't automatically make an entry to your diary or be linked to it in anyway.

You could also just use your regular photo library and then use iCloud to have it available on the web. But EverNote is quite cool in that it's available to all sorts of devices.

My husband and I use Google Calender - have done ever since we got together when we lived oppostive ends of the country. Very useful, even though we are now living together!

alfiemama · 25/11/2011 13:24

I thought that was the case, thanks Badger, hey wouldn't it be cool if you could do it.

It's very good AuntieDoris, what a lovely idea.
