Blackberry problem - e mail & BBM symbol stuck and won't disappear

My Blackberry started showing the BBM symbol as though I had an unread message when I didn't, now it's showing BBM2 as though I have 2 unread BBM's and I don't, now it's showing that I have 6 unread e mails, and I don't!! How can I get rid of it? I tried taking the battery out and back in again. Help!!

I got rid of the unread e mail symbol, turns out it was missed phone calls, still stuck with the BBM2 symbol which I've had for a month now and is driving me nuts.
