Can anyone help? It will work fine when plugged in to the socket, but it says plugged in not charging. three times now ive unplugged the battery pack, given it a wave, and then put it back in and it has charged up, but soon as it got to 98%, it came up as plugged in not charging.
obviously there are times when i need it to work on the battery, without the mains. any suggestions as to what i could do, or why this is happening please.
its a toshiba and only 14 months old

Do you run Windows 7??

cyb · 20/11/2011 12:37

This has happened twice to my daughters lap top. its often the first thing to go- either the battery itself or the connection

I think you can replace battery, but my D just uses hers plugged in all the time now

Our laptop did this - we replaced the battery and all was fine again.

One thing I did learn though was not to leave the battery on constant charge because it considerably shortened the battery life. (I'm really not computer savvy at all, it probably said that in the literature that came with the battery).

We're now on battery number 2 (in 18 months) and won't be doing that again!

Battery is dying, I should think. Buy new battery?

PersonalClown · 20/11/2011 12:55

If you are on Windows 7 or Vista, there is talk that it is a software thing to prevent you overcharging the battery and killing it quicker.

Something about trickle charging on a few forums. Apparently it's to extend the battery life.

When you hit about 95%, the battery should start to charge.
