Headphones for watching TV

DH would like some for Christmas, he wants to watch loud TV and has significant hearing loss.

I know nothing about headphones at all - except that Bose are very expensive. What sort should I look for, wireless/corded, any recommendations please.

would these be any good? I would rather spend a bit less but if they are worth it then it's fine.

Wireless better for watching TV, Sennheiser better than Bose or anyone else IMHO, these are a bit cheaper and these cheaper still. Always best to try headphones before you buy, they are a very personal thing.

NP. I meant to say "Always best to try headphones before you buy, they are a very personal thing and often you will find a cheaper model suits you better than a more expensive one."

If someone else is going to be in the same room/house/county as him they might appreciate 'closed back' and perhaps even 'circumaural' ones as these leak noise less (but they do make the wearer oblivious to outside noise so generally not recommended for TV as you can't hear the phone/door/fire alarm etc.)

He's pretty oblivious to noises in the house anyway Grin as deaf as he wants to be But if it means he can watch Match of the Day without me hearing every word from upstairs, that will do fine. Eg on our TV, I watch with volume set at 19/20. He has volume at 55-60. It drives me nuts.

The headphones were his idea though.
