Alternative to iPad for kids

We have an iPad which was a very generous gift to us as a family last Christmas. Our DTDs aged 3.6 absolutely love it and use it for games (both educational and fun) as well as YouTube (Gummi Bear songs - oh the shame of it).

The problem is they fight over it constantly and as its an expensive piece of kit, one of us has to referee supervise them.

I have seen lots of quite cheap tablets on eBay using the Android OS and wondered whether it would be worth getting one of these for the kids.

Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

Hmmm - but you'll have to pay twice for the games, and not as much choice. I would save up for another iPad.

We haven't paid for many apps - there's so many free ones for the iPad. I had a look at the android apps and whilst there aren't as many there are still plenty of free ones.

DTDs like to watch Cbeebies on the iPlayer and play the games on the website.
