Which phone?

DH's mobile is elderly and falling to pieces. It's PAYG. I'd like to buy him a new phone for Xmas.

He likes to play with my iPad. I sort-of know about iPhones and Androids. Is there a phone that will be as much fun as the iPad, but easy to use for someone who is at the stage of varifocals and thick finger syndrome? And on a PAYG system, because he really doesn't use it all that much.

Though I suppose he might start using it a lot more.

Hmm.

Suggestions, anyone?

What network is he on? It might make a difference (for example, Vodafone have a couple of Android phones on PAYG, the Vodafone 845 (which I bought at Asda Living for 70 quid) and the Vodafone 848 (aka Vodafone Smart) (which I thought I was getting!!) which has a later version of Android, but a slightly poorer camera.

I doubt they would be seen as being as much 'fun' as the iPad, but it really depends on what he's using it for. I have my phone checking 4 GMail accounts (can access other GMail accounts via the browser), and alerting me about Ebay items about to end. Also have a few games, but don't tend to play too much as I have better things to be doing (workwise) on laptops/ desktops.

Other things... TuneIt radio App which means many more stations than just on FM (eg Radio 4 Extra, FiveLive Sport Extra, World Radio Network [Eu, N America, which have some common shows and some different... English broadcasts from countries worldwide, but Europe in particular), also I use JazzRadio App (but I am reasonably sure there would be other Apps if he wanted alternative to Jazz)

correction - the app is called TuneIn not TuneIt (!)

There's another app called Digitally Imported which covers lots of genres of music, so that might be better than the JazzRadio player for variety.

Thanks, he's on o2. At the moment he mostly uses his phone just for texts and calls, it doesn't do much else. But he's got addicted to Angry Birds lately. Grin
