Anyone know any way to hook up an HP wireless printer?

Without a USB cable? I just moved and I can't find the right cable (10,000 network cables I got. USB? Not so much) and all the HP sites are telling me I have to have a USB cable.

It's freakin' wireless! Why can't I do this wirelessly?!?!?

Possibly doable, you may have to 2nd-guess what it's default address would be.

if you power it on is there an option in the menu to display/print its configuration? That may give you a clue as to a management address you can connect to.

flaps hands a bit

Menu where? There's no menu on the machine.

No buttons/display at all? Which model is it?

Tee2072 · 10/11/2011 20:41

It's got buttons and things to use it as a scanner/copier/fax but no set up menu or button.

It looks like I need the CD to do this, which I also can't find, but I think I'm downloading from the HP site!

It's an HP F4580

Found this:
"press and hold down the Cancel button then press and release the wireless button.
This should restore the printer's network configuration to its default state."

and

"Print a Network Configuration page. To do so: Press and hold the Scan Button for 3 to 4 Seconds."

obviously Hmm

Tee2072 · 10/11/2011 20:50

I also found a very obscure old forum that had the instructions. Honestly, it's a wireless printer, shouldn't I be able to easily connect to it, you know, wirelessly?!?!

And with all your self-congratulatoryness on twitter you can credit @boborama :-D

And yes, consumer-grade HP stuff sucks.

Tee2072 · 10/11/2011 21:27

I certainly will!

And I'll add you to my blog as well!!!

And I did mention you on my blog, BTW, just not by name as I didn't know if you'd mind that!

I don't mind at all - I figure that my name is probably not worth hiding - links pointing at www.bob-o-rama.com/ or @boborama always welcome.

And I tweeted you as She. Blush MN. Always assumed to be female until proven otherwise!

Thanks again for the help, I really couldn't have done it without you!

And I'm the same about names. But most people around here are paranoid!
