Xbox Kinect - worth getting?

I've promised the kids an Xbox for Christmas (not a huge promise given that I've also wanted one for ages Grin) but I'm dithering over whether it's worth spending the extra £100 for one with Kinect.

I'm a fairly traditional PC gamer, most of my games will not be Kinect-related (RPGs in the main) but the exercise stuff does appeal if it's practical. The kids play a lot on the Wii, but apart from the occasional Sports Resort binge, mainly play Lego Star Wars et al. DH is not really interested.

I've not really got much of an idea how popular the Kinect stuff is and if they're some decent games out there that makes use of it. Would love to hear if you have Kinect and either use it a lot or it mostly just collects dust.

The dses are 10 and 7 - ds1 in particular is wanting more grown up games to play, so seems like the right time to move to Xbox.

It's only worth having if you host a lot of drunken parties.

It's a bit like the Wii. It's really cool at first but soon the novelty wears off and it just sits there gathering dust. DD(15) still breaks it out sometimes to play the Dancing games but otherwise it only gets used when we have guests around.

So what Ryoko said.

Brill, thanks you two. I shall save the money and just get a couple of extra games instead!
