iPhone Newbie - how to get the best from it?

I've just upgraded to the new iPhone 4S (haven't received it yet). I have never used any Apple products before (and only ever had Nokia phones Blush) so I have no idea where to start really.

The phone sales guy was very helpful in explaining to me the registration process (downloading iTunes, docking it with iTunes, transferring contcts from current phone etc), but what should be my next steps in order to get the best use from it? I'd like to be able to use it to keep myself organised (calendar or similar) and also to be able to do things like banking, shopping etc which I can't do with my current phone, as well as FB, internet etc.

I have a pretty rubbish Nokia smartphone atm, and am not the greatest at technological stuff, I think I get free WiFi with my BT broadband but not sure how that works?

Tips for a complete novice please :D

One of the big things with the latest Apple phones is that you no longer 'need' iTunes. You can get it all set up from your phone.

It's pretty straight forward out of the box really. Best thing to do is register with Apple then browse in the appstore for your favourite apps.

Banking is still a bit hit & miss, depends who you bank with as to if they have an app or a mobile website.

You'll get the hang of it. My 4 year old can manage it, am sure you'll be fine.

the calender app is brilliant, this will already be on your phone when you recieve it.
it will sync with your calender on your desktop.
i use gmail.
some apps are really useful if your want to be organised.
i use the notes app (already installed) to do shopping lists. things to remember etc.
maps is useful if you are out and about and lost!
i use mine to skype people
