Hi could anyone please tell me whether this is any good? I currently have an old mac, and I want this new one for doing uni work, mnetting etc, but I know nothing about PCs. I have actually ordered it already, but I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. Would really appreciate any advice.

Well firstly I don't rate Celeron CPU's but it's all academic since it says it's out of stock.

Personally I think this would be better: Samsung Laptop

I think this one is good value, good processor.

I know it's out of stock, but have already ordered it elsewhere. Why don't you rate them? The other thing is I need to order it from a certain home shopping company where I can get credit, as I'm poor! thanks for your reply

Ok I could order either of those linked to from my catalogue, but can someone please tell me why the other one is no good, and what's wrong with celerons, please?

Ok have just been googling the differences and it is mainly to do with speed is that right? I don't want to play games or anything on it, so would it really make any difference, apart from being cheaper? thanks if you're still listening!

I don't think its crap.

I don't know anything about Samsung as a brand for laptops though I'm happy with their phones and TVs so I'd imagine its similar quality. It is just the processor speed being a bit slower. Apart from that it seems fine.

niceguy2 · 28/10/2011 16:09

To be honest if all you are doing is surfing the web, looking at photos etc it will be fine.

SirHumphreyAppleby · 28/10/2011 16:20

All that and some essay writing. So you both think it's ok for that purpose? What about watching dvds and you tube videos? Would it be a problem? Thanks so much both of you for your help, I appreciate it.

Yeah it'll be fine for that sort of stuff.

Just dont install too much crap on it and make sure you uninstall the usual crapware which it will inevitably come with.

I've just speeded up my kids Windows 7 PC by about 200% by removing about 2 years worth of unused games and rubbish.

Cool, thanks for the advice.
