Hi all, I'm new to Mumsnet but was recommended to it by a friend so thought I'd join. I wanted to ask what peoples experiences are with their kids and apps. Do you ever give your child your iPod or iPhone and what are your experiences with the technology and the child's interactions with it? My son, 3, tends to just slap his palm on the screen of my iPad but seems delighted if it makes a noise or he gets a visual response from it! Do you know of any good apps in the "edutainment" category that I could try introducing him to?

I just realised I posted this on the Mumsnet app. Don't think I'll be giving him this one!

My DS plays one called Cars Trucks by Pixel Envision. It is basically puzzles but I'm happy that he is using hand eye coordination and problem solving rather than just watching cartoons. If he was doing the same puzzles in wooden/real form I'd be happy so see no harm in him doing them in on phone/iPad.
