I have dragged google.co.uk down to my laptop toolbar but every time I click on it it defaults to .com and I get a load of US websites suggested. What am I doing wrong? Biscuit

Do you have a proxy server set?

sunflowerandcress · 07/08/2011 16:46

Ooh, how do you check?

Sorry if you've already tried this but when you type in google.co.uk, there should be a line underneath it that says "Make Google your homepage" - this will reset your Google default to Google.co.uk instead of .com.

if you've already tried it, then I don't know what else.

No nothing comes up about making it a homepage? Just goes to the google page. Do you know how to move a web address into a toolbar. maybe I have done this incorrectly.

What browser are you using? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome?

If you want it to be your home page (rather than just a 'favourite' on the Bookmarks Toolbar then use Tools | Options and on the 'General' tab (first tab visible) you have space to enter the web address of www.google.co.uk/

(Or if you have a Google account, you can make it iGoogle by using www.google.co.uk/ig )

If you want it on your Bookmarks Toolbar, then you'd use Bookmarks | Show All Bookmarks and then you will be able to edit the text or web address for any entries you have.
