I have a Macbook Air using version 10.5.8 OS.

My Skype has died on me & now my Time Machine won't backup :(

So I decided to change to Facetime as more people I know have it now.

  • I seem to need the Mac App Store
  • for this I seem to need Snow Leopard
  • Googling seems to suggest I have to buy a disk to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard
  • tried to order off Amazon but they are out of stock & have cancelled my order Confused
  • can't seem to find another way to upgrade.

Apple now releasing Lion OS but to upgrade to that I still need the Mac App Store.

Can anyone help? pretty please? :)

Yes you will need to upgrade to Snow Leopard before you can download Lion.

You can still get SL from the Apple Store either in person or from their site here

Once you have it installed then run the updates and one of those will give you the App Store. After that you should be able to pay for Lion.

Personally I've not seen anything in Lion which is a must have so perhaps stick to Snow Leopard for a bit before parting with another £21.

Thank you so much! I couldn't manage my way round the site to find that for some reason so was ordering off Amazon. (who are now out of stock and not restocking)

Have ordered & hopefully my upgrade will go smoothly :)
