I dropped my brand new smartphone (which I've had for five days - a replacement for my knackered 6 year old Nokia) today and the screen is smashed.

What do I doooooooooo? The warranty clearly says that it doesn't cover cracked screens. Is it possible to get someone to fix it for an amount that isn't basically the price of a new phone?

Or can I order a new screen and get DH to attempt to replace it myself? It's an HTC, if that's relevent.

Oh God! I am such a moron.

I had phone insurance through my bank account (natwest) so when I recently dropped my iphone and smashed the screen, I contacted them.

They used a third party to repair the phone.

the fone clinic

No idea how much it cost.... but very professional, sent it off in the post and it was returned within 4 working days.

If they exist there must be others around too...

Thank you so much. I will get DH to work filling in the form now.

I bet it costs about seven squillion pounds though.

Also, check your home contents insurance. If you have accidental damage cover, it may cover your phone. This is how I got my new iphone after my daughter dropped my aging Iphone 3G and they had to unfortunately replace it with a brand new iphone 4! Smile
