KINDLE WI FI OR KINDLE 3G

Really want a Kindle but I'm not sure if a wi fi (can link it to my home wireless broadband) or the 3 G option.

Please clarify; if I get 3 G do I have to pay for a roving wireless connection fee each month, as in a mobile phone with internet, or does it pick up odd 'hotspots' or beam down a free signal from a satellite!!?
I seriously havent a clue! Also what would be the advantage of 3G?
I dont want to pay a monthly fee that is for sure.

I don't know, tbh, but unless you need to download on the move, I think 3G is an unnecessary expense.

I have 3G but have never used it as I only ever download at home or hotel etc wifi

the 3G connection is free and means you can download instantly, anywhere, on most of the planet. Have been told v useful for when out & about and forgotten to pick up a newspaper, but for me the straight Wi-Fi is absolutely fine as download stuff through home broadband, and as we're BT I think we can make use of BT hotspots when out & about if necessary - £50 less too.....

As it's a one off payment it may be worth it. My mum is a very fast reader and can download new books if she runs out while she is on holiday!

I have the 3g one, there is no monthly charge.

It just means you can down load books where ever you happen to be iyswim.

Although I don't find the kindle that good for brousing online tbh. I prefer to look online (lap top) and decide what books I want....

But the 3g is v useful, I went to Italy recently and ran out of books and was able to get another one in seconds

That has clarified the situation and I think 3 G would be a waste of money as I cant afford to go abroad and would download plenty of books via my PC anyway.
Yahoo -- off to Amazon to buy new toy!
