I currently pay £15 a month on orange for two of my teens. Contracts up soon and I am utterly confused about what is available.

DS..breaks everything..needs solid basic phone.. doesn't want internet, just something that won't break when he skates over it/falls over drunk with it (he's 18!) He tends to go over his minutes ..would PAYG be better?

DD uses texts only most of the time, looks after her phone. Isn't overly bothered about what is trendy and never costs me a penny extra bless her.

I don't want to go over £20 a month each (they will have to pay me anything over £15 anyway!)

Any suggestions.. or anything to avoid? Thanks:)

Would think DS would be better with PAYG but if he's going to skate over phone, spend as little as possible - cheapest phones in Asda Living are a bit over a tenner but mobiles.co.uk had most basic Orange PAYG at 1p (+ 10 quid top-up|)

With the fairly common top-ups or plans (Orange is daft, and uses animal names) you can choose to spend a fiver or tenner a month (and higher if you feel it necessary). Without knowing how many minutes DS uses, awkward to guess at a suitable plan (they are not contract plans, but based on 'top-up with X pounds by and you get XX texts / YY minutes' [figures depend on which 'animal' plan or top up person buys).

Personally I'd suggest getting a cheap PayG mobile. You can pick them up for a tenner (inc. top up) from mobiles.co.uk

Then I'd take out a monthly SIM only deal like Giffgaff. They use the O2 network and for £10 a month, you get 250mins & unlimited texts/Internet. He doesn't need the latter but given teens tend to text more than call, its a good deal.
