iPhone - can't see film I downloaded

Help! I purchased a film via iTunes for ds to watch on my iPhone this morning as I have to take him to a public meeting and need him to sit quietly. But although iTunes says I've purchased something, I can't find it on my phone now. If I open iPod on the phone, there is nothing there.

Any help gratefully received!
I have to leave in 20 mins!

Thanks

Did you download it directly onto your phone?

It should be in Videos, I think.

Abelia · 12/05/2011 08:52

I did do it all through the phone, not connected to PC, but it isn't in Videos.

But if I open iTunes on my computer and connect the phone, it is shown there.

I have such massive problems with iTunes, there is something about I can't quite grasp I think and I'm not a technophobe.

Do you have any restrictions set? In settings-general-restrictions

MmeLindt · 12/05/2011 08:56

And, yes. itunes is a bitch.

Abelia · 12/05/2011 09:14

you superstar!! it was restrictions. thank you. I now have half a chance of being able to sit through the whole meeting!!

Glad I am not alone re iTunes. Every time I open it I have to go and find my music from the media folder on my computer, it is never just there in the library...

"And, yes. itunes is a bitch."

not sure if you know / care, but Spotify is in the news for planning their own method of letting people download direct into iPhones / iPods and to be able to buy MP3 tracks for as little as 50p, in direct competition with Apple.

Don't know if Spotify runs a service for Switzerland, nor how long it will take Apple to decide to "break" the Spotify alternative to iTunes.

At the very least, it might make Apple re-thing how iTunes works and make it better for users.

[ self interest - I don't use iTunes at all, as my cheap MP3 player can have tracks moved about just by drag and drop from the PC... ]

NetworkGuy · 12/05/2011 09:22

or even re-think !!

MmeLindt · 12/05/2011 09:31

Hurrah, glad I could help.

That is interesting. I am stuck with iTunes at the moment, as Spotify is not available in Switzerland yet and we have iPhone/iPad/iPods. Sounds interesting though, will keep my ears open for that.

Spotify has moved from offering unlimited hours (for people like me who got in early in 2008) to just 10 hours a month for Spotify Free, and once a track has been played 5 times it cannot be played again.

But the premium service at 9.99 GBP a month allows 9,999 tracks to be held in playlists (3,333 on each of 3 mobile devices) and if one marks the playlist as 'offline' the tracks get saved in the phone/ iPod. They are also offering premium users tracks with 320 kbps sampling so it is close to CD quality (but takes more storage of course).

Wonder if there's any way to register with them via a German PO Box/ post office address and pay in Euro :) (Sorry, wild guess as I don't know if they operate in Germany, but remembered seeing you visit and go online there!)

Sorry Abelia - didn't want to hijack thread but you seem to have your query answered anyway :)
