hi
I have a fairly old ipod, but colour screen one.
I have a few films on there that a friend did ages ago on a different laptop we owned.
I want to put more films on my ipod for our holiday - we can just plug the ipod into the hotel tv once the kids are asleep!

So I know I need some sort of rip program. I have a few films of the kids as well I would love to put on.

Can you advise me of a safe to download rip program and how much should I pay for it?
Also can this sort of thing be put on my iphone? I have about 7GB of space left.
TIA

Ok, you need a program called Handbrake. I think it's free. Its configurable for ipod as well as ipod touch and iphone etc. I think you also need some other decrypting software, called DVD43 - it's free as well, this removes the copyright thing on DVDs so you can actually rip the contents in a usable form.

Try googling those and see how you get on. I'm not sure of the links for downloading them, but if you get stuck post back and I'll have a look for you. Warning: there's a lot of faffing about involved. But it's quite safe in my experience.
