Please help, AOL email has been hacked and other probs.

I went onto my email account earlier to find that I had spammed everyone in my contacts, including Mumsnet (sorry).

AVG Free was asking for a license number I don't have so I am trying to reinstall it but am scared of getting a dodgy version and need to scan for a virus or spyware. Windows Defender is being unresponsive.

I am in technology hell, please help!

this happened to me - I am with AOL too although I do not know whether that is significant or not. I did various virus scans and spyware things and the rest of it, but it kept recurring. Evenutally someone told me, the main thing to do is to delete everyone in your address book/contacts, and to change your password to your email account. I did this and have had no problems since. NB I'm not a techy person - i expect someone more techy will be along soon!

If you delete them, how do you keep in touch? I suppose I could write them down...
