run a virus scan

IngridBergman · 23/04/2011 09:44

I suspect you've pressed something by mistake. Go into control panel, mouse, and it will probably be in the options somewhere in there

IngridBergman · 23/04/2011 09:44

oh gosh yes do that too

gorionine · 23/04/2011 09:54

OK, really weird, I have done What ingrid said, Control panel, then mouse I did not change any options on there and it all seems back to normalConfused Thanks anyway as it seems to work now!

If it was a virus it would not have gone back to normal would it? should I still run the virus scan?

May depend which browser you are using, and whether some key was 'stuck' (control + 'click on link' can have different affect than just 'click on link', IYSWIM, but relate to an effect on one of the older browsers I use).

DD (who is my 12 yo IT consultant) thinks I must have pressed too long on the CTRL key and it sometimes "does funny things". She has no idea how it came back to normal on its own though.

Google "sticky keys" for an explanation of what can happen if you hold the SHIFT key too long.

gorionine · 26/04/2011 06:19

Thanks CAUP, I think it might be that I pressessed shift rather than CTRL too long!
