post you some chocolate [bugrin]

I have spent the last 2 hours trying to print something. I Reinstalled Hp Printer to Macbook as I thought that might be the problem but alas. No.

I keep getting a message on screen that says "Client error not possible"

I am going to cry in a minute.

I have tried everything I can think of, which admittedly isn't an awful lot but I tried!

Please help a useless, incompetent, technophobe [buconfused]

Exactly which printer is it and how do you connect to it? The problem can possibly be fixed by going to System Preferences/Print and Fax and deleting the printer from the list on the left and putting it back in.

I have a macbook and an HP printer (930c..oldish but still works)
I have NEVER installed an softwear for it.. didn't have to. First time I jammed the usb cable in it found it and worked.

I know it sounds daft but try uninstalling (ie drag to trashcan) any softwear for the HP that you have installed. Then reboot mac and plug printer in. Delete any queued print jobs first..and just see if it will find it. Unless your macbook is very elderly the mac has all drivers it needs for HP printers built in.

NotShort, I can't answer, but I may know a man who does - unfortunately he's watching Dr Who on iPlayer and I daren't interrupt him (it's too late in the evening for me to watch it!). So if either of those previous suggestions don't work, I'll ask the Oracle!

We had endless problems with the 'free' HP printer that I go with my Mac Book pro, after 3 months I ditched it on freecycle and went back to a lovely Epson. The HP ate cartridges every week too.

We found we had to use the install cd on every computer in the house to get it to print wirelessly, we had to uninstall everything and reinstall, more than once.

Good advice from Medusa

So sorry, I forgot I had posted this Blush

Thank you for all the advice. Medusa how do I find the print jobs list? Honestly I really have no idea what I am doing.

I know the printer works as I was able to use it with a different laptop.

Mac is a MacBook Pro, it's only a couple of years old I think.

Printer is a HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-one. Tried using it wireless and with the cable but still nothing. It finds the printer but then I just get that error message every time.

To find the print jobs list: go to System Preferences at the bottom in the dock (the one that looks like cogs) and select Print & Fax (on mine it's in the second row on the right hand side).

Select the appropriate printer and then choose Open Print Queue.

I'll ask DH when he gets in if you need more help.
