Microsoft word and unwanted 'tmp' files in 'my documents'

So when I look in my documents I have loads of temporary files that I haven't saved but the pc has...

so they all start WRL then 4 digits and then tmp, so:

WRL1234.tmp

It's tedious. I have to keep going through deleting them one at a time. Anyone know how I stop my pc doing this?

.tmp files are created by an application which then should delete them when finished. Chances are the program may have crashed or was sloppily coded so its not doing.

Best bet is to sort by type, click on the first .tmp file then the last whilst holding the Shift key then delete.
