Have you tried it on another wifi signal? If that works then there must be some sort of incompatibility with yours.

Does it link to your wifi and do you get an IP address. Usually will start with 192.168.something.something.

Do other wifi devices work like a laptop?

generalhaig · 01/04/2011 21:07

it's been working with this wifi for 15 months with no problems, my iphone and laptop are fine

it's linking to the wifi and getting an ip address and the wifi signal strength is good

the only thing that's changed is that ds updated to the latest ios (4.3?) the other day

baffled!

Do you get the little WiFi connection symbol appear at the top left of the screen?

generalhaig · 01/04/2011 22:13

yes - wifi symbol's there, correct wifi is turned on, all that seems fine - I've reset the network settings, I've turned it off and turned it on again - STILL not bloody working

Does anything else that uses the internet work OK? The Google Maps app or the YouTube app perhaps?

On the Wi-Fi Networks setting page I presume there's a big tick and the signal strength icon by the network you use. Tap the little blue arrow on the right.

Under "IP Address" what is selected? DHCP?

What are the values of IP Address, Router and DNS?

Try tapping the "Renew Lease" button, any good?

Is HTTP Proxy "Off"

Back on the main Settings page is VPN set to "Off"

generalhaig · 01/04/2011 22:23

weird!! I've not done anything since I last tried and it's suddenly decided to connect to the internet again after 2 days ....

thanks for all the advice - in the end it just fixed itself!

My ipad used to do this before the 4.0 software update.

I used to have to go into Settings & turn the wifi off, wait till the network name disappeared and then turn it on again.

I've seen some reports that people are having this problem with the 4.3 software, so I'm holding off upgrading again for the moment

pickledsiblings · 03/04/2011 17:13

DD's won't connect to youtube so I've just started installing an update - hope that fixes it. If not, I'll just leave it and try again after a few days Smile.

I ended up turning off the wireless router and the iPod, then switching them both on again and it worked. This was after a whole day of frustration.
