HTC music / sync, help please?

Why is it, when I sync my HTC desire using Windows Media Player, once all the music is on the phone, all the tracks in each album are arranged into alphabetical order instead of the order they should be on the album?
It's really annoying me!
OK, this may be because I'm an old fart listening to old stuff, but back in those days, the order of tracks on an album really mattered
And short of making an individual playlist for each album, I can't think of how to get them into the right order.
The strange thing is, I'm sure they used to be in the right order, but then after a while they weren't any more.
Anyone any idea?

tbh I gave up syncing with windows media player and just physically dragged the songs into my phone's music folder. Just attach the phone via the USB as normal, but open as folder (I think, I can't do it at the moment) and locate the music folder, and dump everything in there. It SHOULD put things in the right order.

I do the same, just drag and drop music files onto the phone. It's a lot easier than messing around with media player.
