Anyone know what has happened to the BBC News website (and indeed any other bit of their website?
Firefox is just saying there is a problem loading the page....

Don't know, but I tried to get onto BBC Scotland site and it couldn't display page.

Was on the sport pages a little earlier, but just get cannot display page error.

have been checking #bbc on twitter but no-one seems to have a clue

It's the end of the world

The whole bbc web presence seems to be down, including iplayer - wonder if it's a technical hitch or cyber attack? I can see they might be a target for some international hackers.

Same here - the whole site.

It's very unusual because the tech is generally excellent in the site staying up. So either the servers have temporarily borked, or there's a huge news story (but nothing on TV so that's not the case I don't think). That's about the only other time the site, or parts of it, would crash, even tho there are lighter pages (eg, with less images) for use in those situations.

There will be a number of people looking very sweaty trying to fix it right now.
