Hello! Can any of you who are still awake help me with this please?

Working on a pigs breakfast "stylish" brochure that goes to print first thing tomorrow morning. I'm covering for someone who is away so am on unfamiliar territory (although I realise this is fairly elementary stuff)!!

Does anyone know how to change the font/colour/font size of inserted page numbers in the header using Microsoft Word 7 please?

Main body of text nearly finished but page numbers don't match and it looks all wrong!

A million thanks for any info

Headers and their numbers have been the bane of my life for the last week

I hate word 2007

There is a little button whilst on your 'home' ribbon, that's on the top row. It looks like the one for line spacing. Click on it and it shows you the styles in use. Create a new one called 'headers'

Click on numbers
Click

DollyTwat · 28/03/2011 23:36

On 'more'
There you should find the formatting for the header and number for line 1 , line 2 etc
You'll see each level displayed
If you get stuck, google how to format numbered headings but don't use the Microsoft helP it's useless

Not sure if use helped, on my phone so can't link

Thank you DollyTawt ... I will go and try that right now ....

fingers crossed !!!

Can't find the button you are referring to Dolly [dunce emoticon]

Think I may have already used it to create page number but who knows as I'm currently seeing double and losing the will to live Grin

Have Googled as you suggested and am told I have to

"click on the Mini toolbar, a part of the Microsoft Office Fluent interface " so am going to try that ...

Well, followed instructions ...

double clicked on page number

then on 'edit header'

changed (as I thought) number, size and font to match body of text, pressed 'OK', and blow me, the entire header seems to have disappeared completely

Confused Confused Confused

Yes, have checked full print layout

Any ideas anyone???

tbh I normally just highlight the text in the header or footer and then change it like i would normally change any text in the main body of the text.

I suspect it is either as simple as that or majorly complicated and too hard for my tired brain to compute right now. SOrry.

Thank you Lost!!!! (pls see other thread)

No I meant this one!! (Got to go to bed!!)

Well it nearly worked.

Clicked on blank page to create own header and typed in number and aligned it to right. Made sure font/font size/colour correct etc etc and it worked!!

Did same for second page!!

Only problem is, once I saved and looked in print view, there was a number 1 at the top of every page ....

I'm calling it a night - I think you are right though - there must be an easy solution!!

Thanks again Lost and Dolly

sorry i wasn't more help last night, but well done for perserverring!
This is the help tutorial I used, which is really good, keep it as you will need it if you're using word 2007!!
here

Stillchuckingit · 29/03/2011 11:44

Dolly don't apologise - you were a great deal of help last night - thank you!! Smile

And that tutorial is brilliant - thanks again!

I am going to study it in time for next time...although I finally conquered formatting the headers, I don't know quite how, as I'd tried the same technique at least twice before and it didn't work on those occasions so it feels all a bit hit and miss.

And this has given me the jolt I need to brush up on my knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Agree with you though, I hate version 7!! It's too prescriptive for my liking!
