Which cable to connect camcorder to dvd recorder?

Can one of you clever bods tell me which cable I need please?

MIL has a new dvd recorder and wants to copy from her camcorder onto dvds. Now she can't use the same cable as her old recorder so she has asked me what she needs. She reckons it says DV input - so am I just looking for a DV input cable and is this the same as a firewire one?

She was going to pootle up to Currys but I reckoned that would be mega expensive.

Thank you Smile

Any chance of getting make and model for each item? It may make identifying connections easier... :)

Camcorder is JVC GRD72EK (I think) and dvd is Toshiba RDXV60KB.

I think I need a 4 pin to 4 pin dv input cable (but I am quite ready to be corrected lol!) Thanks Smile

I found the following cable which appears to have a non-standard 3.5mm plug (shows 4 segments, ie 3 channels, where one normally has only 2 for stereo headphones).

From what I saw, all the connections on the Toshiba are for output because it is a Freeview+ box so the assumption is that it will record from 'on air' signals onto the hard drive, and then onto DVDs for a permanent copy.

However, if it can record from USB input from the JVC then you could save what is recorded onto DVD.

I looked on Amazon for "USB GR-D72" and it seems they are from 2 pounds to 6 pounds or thereabouts (+ delivery) not a massive cost to test it out :)

I have not looked for instructions on the Toshiba (it might only allow viewing rather than recording off a USB stick, but hopefully would consider the storage in the JVC as a (big) memory stick).

Thanks for the question, because I've been looking for a way to be able to record to DVD from something other than Freeview/ FreeSat, to make DVD copies of live video feeds etc.
