Adobe Acrobat not working (humph!)

Can any one help, my computer's Adobe acrobat will not work. Originally when I went to download a pdf it said something like the session timed out, but you could slide this message to th side and still read the pdf.

I then downloaded a newer version which now just goes to a blank grey screen and won't open it at all.

I don't even know what the acrobat thing does - but know I need to be able to read pdf's to b in the 21st century.

Please hlep - it's driving me mad!

Did the Acrobat reader install correctly? Is your internet connection working?

Were you reading a document on-line or downloading it to read? If the latter, did it download properly? Can you read other pdf files?

It was installed correctly - but then not, not sure if dh did an up date which is possible and then it staopped working.

I can't do either download or read on line and can't read anything previously downloaded if it is a pdf format.
