How to put cassettes onto iPod?

I have some cool old kids tapes which I think DS would like but we don't have a cassette player in the house! Can I buy a gadget to convert them into a format that can go on my iTunes?

I am a technophobe so it'd have to be numpty-proof...

You can just connect a lead from the output of a tape player (e.g. the headphone jack) to the input socket on a computer (e.g. the microphone jack) and record using some software. The recording will probably be made in a format that will then need to be converted for use on an iPod.

None of that is especially tricky, but it is a little bit fiddly and how to do it will depend on what computer you have (Windows, Mac or something else).

There are easier solutions such as this:
www.amazon.co.uk/TAPE-EXPRESS-TAPE---MP3-RECORDER/dp/B00318OJNM

That will do the whole job for you, but is more expensive than just buying the right cable.

Come back if you need any more help with this.
