Can someone please tell me if it is possible someone can access my computer from somewhere else?

Yes. Try www.logmein.com and choose the Free option.

Basically you install a small program on your computer and then from another computer you go to the website, enter your username & password and bingo.

Just bear in mind your computer has to be powered on and not either asleep or turned off.

It's not something I plan to do, just wondered if it can be done.

I might be barking up the wrong tree but it's an option I wanted out of the way.
