I'm going to be getting an e-reader for my birthday but am really unsure which one to go for.

The price is not too much of an issue as we have saved it.

Which one do you suggest and why?

Thank you!

Defo the Kindle - I brought DP one and he absolutely loves it - it does the job, looks good and so easy to use!

Kindle!

I got one for Christmas and it is fab - you can connect to the Kindle store direct from the device (without using a pc) and if you get the one with 3G & Wifi you can download from pretty much anywhere...

Got a Kindle. Its brilliant. Plays MP3s, surgs the net (slowly), reads out loud and stores 100s of books. Plus its a doddle to use.

i have kindle and love it, but for all i know the sony is fabulous too.

I love my Kindle, but have no experience of the Sony for comparison

I think most people seem to have the kindle so think I am going to go with that. The only thing that put me off is that you are limited to Amazon books but they seem to have the biggest range anyways.

Thanks for the replies

you don't have to be limited to Amazon.

download Calibre software, and buy form anywhere, convert, and then put them on your kindle.

I have a kindle, and love it. but, as other posters have said, I have nothing (other than kindle apps on phone and ipad) to compare it with.

for all I know, the SOny is brilliant too Smile

My sony e-reader is fab. DH got it for me when they first came out in the states as he was over there. It hasn't got internet capability but I have my iphone for that!
I can listen to music on it whilst reading as it has an earphone jack. It also has an expansion slot for an sd card and as far as I'm aware there's not a limit on the capacity of the card.
You can download loads of free books of the internet for it and it's compatible with most formats.

That said my friend has a kindle and loves it too. :)
