Can anyone help re: weird glitch / virus maybe?

My computer has something wrong with it, where by I type, and it will type normally, than in the middle of the word jump to somewhere else on the page and type there instead. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Not very au fait with virus elimination etc.

Are you using a laptop?

If so, i suspect your palm may be accidentally brushing the trackpad where you type and accidentally moving the cursor to wherever the mouse is.

Try typing with your palm higher for a minute to see. If its the case then there's sometimes an application for the trackpad you can turn it off. Some laptops even have a button you can press to turn off the pad completely.

I've been using the laptop for nearly a year and it's only just started happening over the past few days.

See if you can plug in an external keyboard (USB) and use that for a bit.

It could be a dodgy connection which makes the computr think you pressed the mouse button
