Can anybody recommend a good 3 in 1 printer please?

I am after a print that can print on paper and do nice photos. I would also like it to be able to scan and copy.

Has anybody bought one recently that they can recommend? Or ones to avoid too come to that!

I know the Kodak ones have cheap cartridges but how is their printing? I do use my printer for some business stuff so it needs to be of a decent quality.

The budget is no more than £150.

Thank very much.

Not in a position to reommend, sorry, but you might also check the 'products' section as I have sen similar types of enquiry there (though the weekend is sometimes very quiet in both areas).

I have a Kodak 1250 which is fab and the toner is v cheap too.

QuincyMincemeat · 04/02/2011 21:41

I have Kodak one too. Bloody brilliant and under 20 quid to replace both colour and black ink. Kodak photo paper a must though which is £££

Sidge · 04/02/2011 21:44

We have this one which we got recently and I'm very pleased with it.

Niecie · 04/02/2011 21:45

Thanks WMMC and QuincyMincement - I was hoping somebody would say the Kodak ones were good. Its no good having cheaper toner if the printing is crap but if they work well then you can't go wrong. I shall look at the cost of the paper though, thanks.

Networkguy - I did search on printers but couldn't find one specifically about 3 in 1 printers so thought I would do my own. I'll maybe bump this on Monday if it is too quiet. Thanks.

we have an Epson (can't remember which one off the top of my head, an SX soemthing or other)

I swear by Epson. not the cheapest ink cartridges, certainly (full set black and colour comes in at around £35), but the easiest I have ever used.

brilliant logical software, fantastic easy-replace cartridges.

very good for printing photos, and easy ot change the settings (photo vs text)

like silverfrog - I also have an Epsom (SX something or other - was under £150 anyhow).

had it 18 months now and very happy with it (despite the steap cartridge price).

Niecie · 07/02/2011 13:49

Oh some more recommendations! Thanks.

We have an Epson at the moment but it is old, it only prints (no scans/copies) and the cartridges are very expensive. I bought a set of colour ones from Sainsburys on Saturday (DH needs colour prints for a work show we are doing tomorrow) and they cost £40. The own brand Epson ones cost double that and that isn't including the black!

But if you can get cheaper cartridges then that is worth looking into. We quite like Epson.

I have an HP laptop which at the moment I can't send its prints to the colour printer (don't ask why - I could do it with my old laptop but not this one). I am sure any compatability issues will be solved with having an HP printer too!

I suppose the best thing to do is have a look around and see what is available and where the deals are at the moment.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

I bought a Kodak 520 in the sale at Christmas and its great. All the blurb says that its the most econmical with ink and therefore cheapest to 'run'.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 07/02/2011 14:57

I had a look today in Wilko's for the full set for my 3 in 1 Epsom - they were £32 in there for all 4. (Proper branded ones)

Niecie · 07/02/2011 17:02

That is cheap Baroque! Thanks for that.

I am sure that Kodak are going to be forcing down the price of their competitors' ink which is great! You have to ask how they can justify charging £40 for 5 little cartridges. Total rip off.

I just got an epsom SX515W and would reccommend it but can't remember how much it was. it scans and copies and is wireless. don't print many photos though, as ink is expensive and i tend to just order from truprint.

silverfrog · 07/02/2011 17:10

last time I bought ink (can't remember which set it is, but it is the Cheetah set) I got 2 full lots (colour and black) for £62, and that was in Currys/PC World (can't remember which on I went into - they are next door to each other!)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 07/02/2011 22:38

Epsom SX400 I've got (just realised randomly - as you do - that I could check on here which devices I have installed even without being plugged into my printer Blush)

And found you can buy the (proper) catridges for it from Amazon for £30 - and prices seem to range from £30-£40 for the multipack.

squashedfrogs · 07/02/2011 22:46

Just had this one delivered today. Really good so far but not tried printing photos yet. Have ordered the cartridges from Amazon as well and they're about half the price of other suppliers.

squashedfrogs · 07/02/2011 22:47

The price seems to have gone up since ordering on Friday although it still seems to be a reasonable price.
